Finishing Touches is a family owned business that was founded in 1981 by Jan and Steve Bertwell as a home based framing service that specialized in framing for needlework stores up and down the east coast. In 1989 they moved the business out of their home to a retail plaza nearby in Richmond, RI and welcomed clients, including those who needed more traditional custom picture framing.
Finishing Touches has always been very much a family business. When sons Evan and Dan were young they could often be found in the shop after school. Evan will tell you that his very first job was sweeping the floor at Finishing Touches! Both Evan and Dan worked with their dad for a time as adults and he shared his knowledge and skills with them. Following Steve’s passing in 2009 Evan joined the business, building on the skills that he learned from his father over the years.
In the spring of 2012, Evan and Jan began to search for a less rural location that was more centrally located to their client base. After much research they found a perfect Main Street location in Wakefield, RI and moved the business to the new location in November of 2012. The new space is lovely and allows for many more frame corner samples; the selection has been greatly increased. The larger wall space available allows for more framed samples to give you ideas and inspiration.
Finishing Touches is known for their expertise in framing everything from photos, posters, memorabilia, artwork, objects, etc. Bring your ideas and they will work with you to create the best presentation for your artwork.
Finishing Touches Custom Picture Framing is a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association and Evan and Jan attend the regional meetings and the national conference to attend classes and to stay current on equipment, techniques, and the latest trends in the industry.
We invite you to visit our lovely shop in the heart of historic downtown Wakefield, RI, where there is parking right at our door as well as a huge parking lot right behind our store.
