When I moved from my home of 36 years, it quickly became apparent to me that, while I was leaving behind many things that triggered wonderful memories for me, there were lots of memories moving right along with me in several different formats. Photos. Did I have photos! Some were in albums, yes, but there were boxes of photos, still in their envelopes, just waiting for the day when I would have the time to organize them. And slides. Lots and lots of great slides, but no projector. I had stacks and stacks of VHS tapes but the player was long gone. And reels and reels of 8mm movies that are so important to our family but hadn’t been viewed in decades.
Sound familiar? I invite you to join us at Finishing Touches on August 30th from 7 to 9. We will be hosting Robert Webb and Elke Bellet of Charter Oak Scanning, for “Preserve Your Memories”; an evening of inspiration and tips on preserving and enjoying your family’s memories.
The evening will be divided into three segments:
- Digitize Your Outdated Media
Robert, owner of Charter Oak Scanning, will tell us what’s involved in digitizing outdated media with a “show and tell” including VHS tapes, 8mm and16mm film, tin type photographs, audio tapes, and the like. All of the things we can’t bear to part with, but can no longer view in their current state.
- Tips for Organizing Your Printed Photographs
Elke is a Certified Photo Organizer, and she will draw on her years of experience organizing printed photographs and break down what may seem like a daunting task, and make it manageable. Elke has a specific method of organization that she recommends and she will describe the process for us.
- Tell Your Story
We’ll cover ways to display and enjoy your photographs. Elke will talk about creating lovely slide shows, and give us tips for creating memorable photo books. Of course, we’ll sprinkle in a little bit of custom framing, too!
We’d love to have you join us! Please let us know if you can make it at:
